Abstract

The research situates Al-Qadi Al-Fadhil’s output within a historical and literary perspective that highlights the traits of his contemporary period, characterized by the wars fought by Muslims against the Crusaders and Franks. The research shows that Al-Qadi Al-Fadhil, in his works in the Diwan al-Insha, had a leadership and administrative role; he inspired the army and built their morale psychologically to face the enemy. He served as a full scholar before the intrigues of the Crusades and his homeland entered the gauntlet; Al-Qadi Al-Fadhil’s Correspondences provided, more than anything else, the most thorough documentation of this country’s events, artistically directing requests for influence and agreement on the viewpoint he desired others to espouse. Accordingly, Al-Fadhil varied his language to achieve the result he sought. This study selected two original materials from Al-Fadhil’s letters as core material to examine the letters’ objectives and achieve their purposes.
